Dugway Proving Ground is seeking applicants for s Summer Hire to work as a Student Trainee (Industrial Hygienist) for the Safety Office/Clinic on Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Dugway Proving Ground is approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement for the subject position above under the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) Direct-Hire Authority.

Job Responsibilities

Receives on-the-job training performing general Industrial Hygiene duties required to provide general Industrial Hygiene support utilizing specialized health equipment, practices, procedures, and findings report. To be accomplished by helping higher level employees. Assistance may include workplace occupational health surveys such as: noise exposure, crystalline silica, lead and/or other heavy metals, welding fume, radon, and asbestos. Tasks include pre and post equipment calibration, preparation of field notes, preparation of samples for lab analysis, creating chain of custody reports, maintaining sample report database, preparing equipment to be sent out for laboratory calibration, and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) fit testing.

Specialized Experience

EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

General/Specialized Experience for the GS-04: In order to be found qualified, your resume must reflect a least 6 months of general experience assisting with extracting and compiling data for inclusion for reports AND 6 months of specialized experience: assisting with occupational health field surveys (Examples include Noise and Industrial Ventilation Surveys). This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

OR

Education Substitution: Two years of education above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours that included courses such health, industrial hygiene, or a related medical field.


OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Conditions of Employment
