Job Summary

This position is within the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC) Center Support Division, Security Office (S-2).  RTC participates in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project, AcqDemo, among other features. AcqDemo replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands.

The NH-03 band is equal to the GS-12 step 1 through GS-13 step 10. However, this position is subject to the NH-03, Senior Professional/Evaluator/Test/Analyst control point of the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) Control Point Policy, $139,798 per year, includes locality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Security Specialist performing policy and guidance duties in support of various security programs for the command.
  • Manage programs such as Communications Security (COMSEC), Information Security, Physical Security, Antiterrorism, Foreign Disclosure, Industrial Security and Operations Security.
  • Serve as RTC COMSEC Account Manager (KOAM) and TEMPEST Officer.
  • Provide technical security guidance to Commanders, Directors, Supervisors, Security Specialists, and employees.
  • Conduct comprehensive review and analysis of security plans, inspection and survey reports for compliance with existing policies and procedures.
  • Operate the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) system, which includes system operation of the Management Client Host (MGC), Advanced Key Processor (AKP), High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) device and other system components.
  • Assist in carrying out all actions associated with the receipt, handling, issuing, safeguarding, accounting and disposition of all COMSEC material assigned to a COMSEC account.

Specialized Experience

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

1) Measuring and analyzing a variety of unusual and complex security situations.
2) Managing COMSEC responsibilities effectively, ensuring strict compliance and secure operations across all levels of communication.
3) Implementing rigorous protocols for COMSEC that enhance security while maintaining operational efficiency.
4) Developing innovative solutions and strategies for the secure management and accountability of cryptographic materials.
5)Utilizing knowledge of antiterrorism, information, personnel, physical, industrial, and operations security program interrelationships to coordinate and support the commands strategic plan.
6) Implementing standards and resolving major problems and conflicts concerning security policy and program development.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
