About the Position: ATEC Mission Statement: The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) provides direct support to Army Futures Command and relevant, timely information to senior Army leaders to make future force decisions enabling Multi-Domain Operations through rigorous developmental testing and independent operational tests and evaluations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs duties concerned with the scheduling of physical resources and personnel resources associated with White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) testing of materiel and systems, range training activities; and all other mission requirements for the range test and training complex. WSMR is an Army Test and Evaluation (ATEC) installation. As such, WSMR provides direct support to Army Futures Command (AFC) and the Army Cross Functional Team (CFT) priorities. The WSMR complex conducts over 300 tests annually for active and reserve, Army, U.S. Air Force (USAF), U.S. Navy (USN), and U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) personnel, other government agencies, foreign governments and private industry involving civilian, military and contractor personnel. WSMR consists of 3200 square miles of land encompassing launch complexes, test facilities, air strips, and restricted airspace. The land is also bordered by a National Monument and bisected by major state highways. The complexity of the assignment is characterized by the large number of tests conducted and by the variety of personnel skills, equipment, instrumentation, etc., that must be integrated and scheduled in different combinations to achieve sometimes conflicting test and customer objectives. The performance of assigned duties requires as the primary knowledge a comprehensive understanding of the methods and procedures associated with scheduling range assets and personnel, combined with an understanding of test equipment, materiel, instrumentation and associated processes. In addition, incumbent is required to exercise tact, diplomacy, and persuasive ability in obtaining the cooperation and assistance of personnel in scheduling personnel and physical resources and in negotiating trade-offs in terms of range assets, instrumentation, data, time, and operational restrictions in executing testing programs. The employee, without supervisor involvement, normally resolves issues or controversial areas.
