This is a Computer Scientist position for the Center Support Directorate (CSD), S6 Division.  Serves as Redstone Test Center's technical advisor for data acquisition systems, network systems, High Performance Computer Systems, and IT systems to the Division Chief.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC) participates in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project, AcqDemo. Among other features, AcqDemo replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands.

The NH-03 band is equal to the GS-12 step 1 through GS-13 step 10. However, this position is subject to the NH-03 Non-Supervisory Senior Professional / Evaluator/ Tester / Analyst control point of the ATEC Control Point Policy $103,309 per year plus locality pay.

Job Responsibilities

Research, development, design, testing, and acquisition of computer based data acquisition systems, High Performance Computer Systems, IT systems, and related systems directed toward the creation of new or substantially improved IT, automated data acquisition, networking or related hardware.

Performs network architecture engineering and program enhancement functions, conducts systems level evaluations, generates design specifications, and develops standards and test plans directed toward the creation of new or substantially improved IT, data acquisition, or related systems.

Prepares and implements the procedures, criteria, and specifications for systems development or systems modification and for procurement and testing of new systems and interrelationships between new and existing systems.

Provides advice to management, project officers, and contract personnel concerning network aspects of computer based data acquisition and IT systems.

Job Qualification

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a senior Computer Scientist and Network/Server Systems Manager responsible for directing, coordinating, monitoring, and managing one or more Information Technology (IT) programs to include design, deployment and management of all Mission and Mission support networks. Provide expertise in Project Management throughout all life cycle phases of server systems in support of Test and Evaluation (T&E), and enterprise efforts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service NH-02 or (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent NH-02 or (GS-11).
