The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement. The chosen candidate will serve as an Office Support Assistant supporting Cold Regions Test Center, Test Operations Division located at Ft. Greely, Alaska.  A selection will be made soon after the closing date. Selection of this position will be made at the NK-0303-03 (GS8).

This position is subject to ATEC’s Administrative Assistant (I) control point. The base pay with locality will be set no higher than $76,968.  Alaska (other) receives and additional 3.5% COLA that will be added on to the final salary.

*There is NO immediate pay change with a reassignment if the employee is currently an NK-03 in AcqDemo.

Job Responsibilities

Serves as an office manager and personal administrative assistant to the U.S. Army Cold Regions Test Center’s (CRTC) Chief of Test Operations Division. Incumbent provides advice and recommendations to the Chief on all matters relative to the coordination, integration, and synchronization of actions, events, and activities; and is responsible for the performance and coordination of all administrative management, and procedural functions, throughout the organization.

As an Office Support Assistant you will:

  • Authors, reviews, and edits correspondence; channels through the appropriate staff of the division; and submits releases to other agencies, organizations, or officials.
  • Performs all administrative matters, to include receiving and screening incoming information in the form of electronic mail, facsimiles or written correspondence and attending meetings to make a record of desired actions.
  • Utilizes varied functions of office automation software (e.g. electronic spreadsheets, electronic mail, calendar, graphics software, etc.) to create, edit, and manipulate files/reports and information necessary to produce correspondence, forms, reports, and audio-visual aids for briefings.
  • Serves as the alternate Government Purchase Card holder for the entire organization.
  • Serves as an alternate Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS) timekeeper.
  • Serves as Key Control Custodian for all downrange gates/facilities, including the barracks rooms at Bolio Lake.
  • Responsible for access control to the Bolio Test Complex via remote control of compound gates.
  • Ensures barracks are properly maintained and all linen is accounted for and cleaned via quartermaster laundry when needed.
  • Submits work and services orders for the entire organization.
  • Receives visitors and telephone calls from various departments of the Federal Government, private industry, universities, and foreign governments.
  • Makes all necessary arrangements for travel both in and outside of the continental United States for members of the division. Prepares orders; notifies organizations and officials to be visited; and checks schedules. Makes transportation and housing reservations; arranges for car rentals; keeps in touch with supervisor while away; and submits travel documents and trip reports within required timeframes.

Specialized Experience

One year of specialized experience which includes experience in clerical duties utilizing computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and reports.

Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Conditions of Employment

  • You must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • This position may require occasional TDY up to 5%.

  • Working Conditions: Performance of duties may include extended periods of outdoor work in extreme natural cold, tropic, and desert environments. Work takes place at remote/isolated locations in temperatures ranging from -70°F to 140°F and includes high winds, high humidity, torrential rain, fog, snow, ice, blizzard conditions, and dust/sandstorms. Exposure to potentially harmful plants, animals, and insects which occur naturally in these environments is possible.
