Dugway Proving Ground is seeking applicants with a safety background for an Explosives Safety Specialist for the Safety Office for Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Dugway Proving Ground is approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Job Responsibilities

Serves as the technical expert for the Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) in explosives, ammunition, and weapon testing safety requirements with responsibility for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and monitoring the effectiveness of the explosives safety program for all activities within DPG and private contractors who perform explosives, ammunition and weapons testing functions within DPG.
- Develops explosives safety policy governing occupational safety criteria, guidelines, standards.
- Investigates ammunition and explosive accidents and incidents, and weapon-related accidents and incidents.

Specialized Experience
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for the GS-12: In order to be found qualified, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience which includes providing oversight to operations and activities where ammunition and explosives are stored and handled; developing procedures to minimize and control risks regarding explosives safety matters AND providing training on explosives safety. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Conditions of Employment
- Position requires applicant to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
- Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Must obtain the CP-12 (Safety and Occupational Health) Professional Certificate within 12-months.
- Must obtain the CP-12 Explosives Safety Certificate (Level I and Level II) within 12-months.
- Must obtain Certification for the Transportation of Hazardous Materials within 12-months.
- This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 5% of the time.
- Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license to driver to inspection sites.
- Position requires initial and random drug testing.
- May have to work occasional nights and/or weekends to support mission.
- Position requires initial and random physical examination.
