PLACE OF WORK:

Dugway Proving Ground is seeking applicants for our Division Chief over the Chemical Test Division (CTD), West Desert Test Center (WDTC) located at Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Dugway Proving Ground is approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Job Responsibilities

As the Chief, Chemical Test Division, provides direction, guidance, and supervision for all scientific and technological activities associated with chemical defense testing. Evaluates mission accomplishments by applying a broad professional knowledge of scientific principles and concepts in all fields related to chemical defense testing, including chemistry, physical science, engineering, and other related fields. Develops and executes strategic plan, technical policies, and long-range programs for overall effort and direction. Formulates policies, develops technical and management plans, establishes general strategies that are consistent with the vision and mission of the test center, and makes decisions relative to chemical laboratory and chamber operations instrumentation, field test operations, data measurements, data reduction, and related reporting, safety, surety, and environmental compliance.

Specialized Experience

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for the GS-15: To be found qualified, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience: 1) Supervising scientific and technological chemical defense testing activities. 2) Formulating policies and standard operating procedures relative to critical and complex chemical instrumentation, laboratory, and chamber operations. 3) Provide management oversight of technical approaches to testing, data analysis and integrity, and writing of test plans and reports.  This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
