Job Summary

This is a Management Identified Internal Candidate (MIIC) announcement for two Interdisciplinary, NH-04 positions within the Live Fire Directorate, Ammunition and Weapons Division. This announcement is only open to NH-03s withtin the Ammunition and Weapons Division.
 
The positions serve as a Subject Matter Expert leading either the Armaments and Proofing Systems commodity area or the Infantry Systems commodity area within the Ammunition and Weapons Division, Live Fire Directorate.
 
The positions are subject to the NH-04 Non-Supervisory Professional control point of the ATEC Control Point Policy of $173,070.

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary authority in Weapon and Ammunition, testing and corresponding technology innovation.
  • Sets major program objectives and guides organizational engineers, scientists, and technical staff in the development, fielding, and testing of ammunition, explosives, weapon systems, and protective capabilities.
  • Reviews work progress and achievements, proposing continuation, changes in approach or emphasis, or work cessation. Coordinates the integration of development programs for the organization.
  • Assists project managers in planning, supervising, and executing complex and advanced projects related to these testing areas. 
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts independent technical projects to support design and development efforts related to systems under test.
  • Utilizes study results to develop briefings, project proposals, and to advocate for budgetary requirements for development and implementation programs. Defines technology requirements and prepares and presents detailed technical and cost analysis briefings to higher HQ, DA, OSD, and congressional members on major initiatives related to modernization efforts. 
  • Investigates and develops new techniques for testing and evaluating systems in this mission area and associated technology.
  • Provides technical consultations on future test methodologies and facilities needed for the most advanced, leading-edge system platforms.

Conditions of Employment

1) Position requires incumbent be able, and willing, to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes.

2) Position requires, in the performance of duties related to the test and evaluation of item(s)/system(s) under examination, work in outdoor environments; the lifting of moderately heavy items; and the wear of safety/protective equipment.

3) This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) away from its duty station approximately 20% of the time.

4) This position requires access to arms and ammunition and is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.

5) This position requires a drug test.
