The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement to fill a current vacancy. The chosen candidate will serve as an Equipment Specialist supporting the Ammunition & Armaments Division within Yuma Test Center, Yuma, AZ. A selection will be made soon after the closing date. Selection of this position is permanent will be made at the GS-09 grade level.

The incumbent serves under the supervision of the Ammunition & Armaments Division Chief, and functions as the Equipment Specialist and action officer serving as the Division primary logistics support and equipment management specialist with responsibility for concept, feasibility, design, development, and testing activities for all assigned equipment systems and subsystems (both military and commercial design). Serves as Division supply and equipment manager. Uses a thorough knowledge of supply regulations and policies to perform continuing assignments encompassing a variety of problem situations with considerable independence. Reviews regulations and develops division SOPs pertaining to equipment acquisition, utilization, and accountability. Manages the Sensitive Items Key Control Program.

Job Responsibilities

As an Equipment Specialist you will:

  • Initiate and conduct inventories visually and by count. Document all findings and reports IAW Army Regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain hand receipts for equipment and installation property issued to the division.
  • Accomplish monthly, semi-annual, annual and change of hand receipt holder inventories for all hand receipt items.
  • Prepare requests for turn in of excess items.
  • Brief supervisor on status of hand receipts and the need to replace equipment.
  • Prepare written correspondence both in response to written inquiries and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain records of the various types of equipment assigned and all work performed (i.e., parts that were replaced, number of labor hours used, mileage or hours at time of maintenance, etc.).
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on maintenance support problems effecting the Division.
  • Uses practical knowledge to provide technical advice and instructions relative to maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Manage the ammunition key control program.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and surface potential equipment problem areas.

Specialized Experience:

GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes experience auditing, managing, processing, and maintaining accountability of government property hand receipts and Maintaining records of the various types of equipment assigned and all work performed (i.e., parts that were replaced, number of labor hours used, mileage or hours at time of maintenance, etc.).   This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service equivalent to GS-07.

OR

Master’s or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

Conditions of Employment

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain/maintain a government motor vehicle license.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain Overhead Crane and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certifications.
  • The duties of this position require access to AA&E (The provisions of paragraph 2-11 AR 190-11 apply).
  • This position requires lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of Domestic Violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position is subject to random drug testing.
