Dugway Proving Ground is seeking applicants for security guard positions for the Operations Division, Security Guard Branch the West Desert Test Center at Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Dugway Proving Ground is approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Salary on the announcement depicts the GS-14 step 1 through GS-14 step 10 annual salary.

Job Responsibilities

Serves as Chief, Safety and Surety Branch with responsibility for providing leadership, planning, and direction for an active and aggressive chemical, biological, explosives, radiological, military training, and industrial safety and surety (chemical and biological) programs for a major test and training facility. The programs comprise those controls, procedures, and actions contributing to the safety and security of work with hazardous materials without degrading operational performance. Directs and coordinates the establishment of safety requirements, procedures and protocols for all test programs. Advises key personnel regarding all aspects of the implementation of regulatory reliability standards and surety policies. Conducts internal surety compliance inspections and ensures preparedness for surety inspections and inventories. Responsible for performing various administrative and supervisory functions relative to the personnel assigned.

Specialized Experience

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. If your resume does not contain this information, your application may be marked as incomplete, and you may not receive consideration for this position.

Specialized Experience for the GS-14: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must demonstrate as least one year of: 1. Managing safety or occupational health program elements. 2. Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management. 3. Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. 4. Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards.

 This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted for this grade level.
