Job Summary

Two positions - Developmental Assignment opportunity within ATC, Command Staff, S8

PERIOD OF ASSIGNMENT: NTE 179 days

 

START DATE: 2 January 2025

 

END DATE: 30 June 2025

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors reimbursable and indirect funds and rates to ensure proper balance is maintained.
  • Provides advice and recommendations to activity managers and staff officials on matters such as distribution of allotments and availability of budgetary funds for program purposes; and recommends withdrawal of funding from program efforts/acquisition actions when progress is lagging and/or efforts are displaced by more urgent, higher visibility needs.
  • Participates in year-end closing; compiles cost figures for use in forecasting future funding needs, and ensures agency/organizational priorities are reflected in the ranking of unfinanced requirements.
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates budget, obligation, and disbursement plans for assigned program(s); compiles and maintains informal records of expenditures; analyzes productivity, workload, and program accomplishments; considers program tradeoffs; and presents and defends budget/program requests to organizational management.
  • Analyzes a wide range of past and present program statistics and financial data; establishes financial and budgetary goals, timetables, milestones, and other criteria for measuring program achievements against costs and benefits; and reviews requests for funding in relation to current obligations and expenditures.
  • Prepares and submits a variety of forms, documents, and reports required in connection with assigned program(s).
  • Research new methods of planning/estimating budgetary needs and explores alternative methods of funding.
  • Performs special projects is support of assigned programs (e.g., identifying the effects of changing business practices and/or developing different funding scenarios for managers based on workload options).

Job Qualification

  • Per ATEC 350-1: Employees must have completed 1 year of employment prior to applying for developmental assignment.
  • Must not have previously completed a developmental assignment within the last 2 years.
  • Applicants will be excluded from participating in the program if they have been subject to formal disciplinary actions within the last 52 weeks.

Specialized Experience

  • Minimum entry level budget development, budget execution and reporting experience with GFEBS knowledge.

Conditions of Employment

  • Position requires the applicant/incumbent to be able to obtain, and maintain, eligibility for a Secret security clearance
  • Selectee will remain assigned to his/her permanent position of record while on the developmental assignment.
  • Selectee will remain at his/her current grade (DA has no promotion potential).
