Job Summary
The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement for the subject position above under the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) Direct-Hire Authority. The chosen candidate will serve as an Equipment Specialist supporting the Ground Combat Directorate, Maintenance Division, Maintenance Quality Branch, Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, AZ. Job Responsibilities
As an Equipment Specialist you will:
- Serves as crane operator. Operates truck-mounted, mobile cranes with 80+ ton lifting capacity.
- Serves as Heavy Equipment operator. Able to safely and efficiently operate Test operations equipment support includes but is not limited to construction equipment and materials handling equipment (CE/MHE), including cranes, forklifts, backhoes, loaders, etc.; tactical and commercial cargo, utility, and other vehicles including tractor-trailer combinations, and all lifting devices, tools and equipment supporting the YTC transportability test mission; and other common and specialized vehicles and equipment as necessary to accomplish the YTC test mission and support other YPG elements.
- Functions as a certified trainer on all MHE and Mobile Cranes.
- Serves as rigging inspector. Responsible for determining and executing/directing all appropriate and necessary rigging operations.
- Serves as blocker and bracer. Performs a variety of materials handling operations that require specialized skills, knowledge and training in the lift and tie down of transportable test facilities and site equipment.

Conditions of Employment
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel 10% of the time away from the normal duty station.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a state driver's license.
- Must obtain and maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Must obtain and maintain a crane operator license and crane training certification.
- Must obtain and maintain training and certification for rigging operations as a Rigging Inspector.
- Must obtain and maintain training and certification for blocking, bracing, tying down, and otherwise securing test loads and cargo.
- Incumbent must be able to pass a pre-appointment physical and is subject to periodic (e.g. annual) medical examinations following appointment to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Signing of a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) acknowledging periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position. Individuals not currently occupying a DoD TDP position must successfully complete a pre-appointment drug test prior to being placed into this position.
- This position requires DA Form 7412, CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT FOR CERTAIN CIVILIAN POSITIONS IDENTIFIED SAFETY-SENSITIVE UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION RULES ON DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING to be signed IAW the Department of Transportation requirements. Personnel must pass drug screening prior to hiring and will be subject to random drug and breath analyzers testing thereafter.
