PLACE OF WORK
 
This position is located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, G-3/5, Safety Division.
 
Control Point Statement: The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The band NH-03 is equal to the former GS-12 Step 01 through GS-13 step 10. ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broad band. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $153,354 including locality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as a senior safety advisor in assigned Safety Program areas, which could include Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical, Biological Safety, and Radiological Nuclear Safety or other areas identified as part of the Army Safety Program.
  • Evaluates and interprets Safety Program guidance in Codes, regulations and standards. Develops policies, plans, and guidance for assigned Program areas, and implements methods to execute and evaluate their success.
  • Inspects Subordinate Activities for compliance with standards and objectives in assigned Safety Program areas.
  • Prepares briefings, reports and other documentation for leadership, and briefs assigned topics. Drafts policies and regulations to meet compliance requirements.
  • Supports and serves on Department of the Army and Department of Defense committees and working groups supporting the development of policies or programs in assigned Safety areas. Represents the Command in these forums.
