Job Summary

The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement for the subject position above under the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) Direct-Hire Authority. The chosen candidate will serve as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) supporting the Network Enterprise Center in the Policy and Plans Division at Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, AZ. A selection will be made soon after the closing date. Selection of this position will be made at the GS-12 grade level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement Army Information systems levels of security in areas such as engineering implementation, operation, and maintenance for Information Systems.
  • Upgrade protective network applications such as firewalls, intrusion detection and protection systems, web filtering devices and other similar devices.
  • Provide guidance on information Assurance to individuals on Yuma Proving Grounds.
  • Perform Forensics analysis for Information Assurance violations.

Job Qualification

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant specialized experience.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (INFOSEC):

Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 Grade level. One year of specialized experience; 1) Identifying violations to recommend corrective actions ensuring cyber security policies and procedures are being followed; 2) Operates and configures cyber related software tools such as antivirus, IDS/IPS, firewall, and vulnerability scanning and patching; and 3) Serves as a team member or technical advisor on IT and cyber related projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Specialized Experience

The Specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate), which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Conditions of Employment

  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the duration of your employment.
  • Certification in accordance with DoD 8570-01-M is required. Certification must be completed within six month of employment date.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 10% of the time.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
