            The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement to fill two vacancies. The chosen candidates will be selected to serve as an Operations Research Analyst supporting one of the Command Staff Directorates in either Technology and Investments Directorate, Investments Division or Plans & Operations Directorate, Plans Division, Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, AZ.  A selection will be made soon after the closing date.  Selection of the positions will be made at either the GS 09, 11, or 12 grade level. Upon reaching full GS 12 grade potential the candidate will be converted to ACQDEMO by reassignment to NH-1515-03. 
 
         *There is NO immediate pay change with a reassignment if the employee is currently an NH-03 in AcqDemo.

 

Job Responsibilities

      
  • Provide support to senior analysts and/or engineers with analytical studies concerning Research and Development such as; testing of weapon systems, instrumentation, and computer technology.
  • Support to senior analysts and/or engineers on processes such as; systems program analysis, planning, and project submissions to develop advanced technology and test support initiatives within an organization.
  • Design and/or perform analytical studies using scientific methods related to efforts such as; the development of instrumentation, facilities, and capabilities to support assigned missions.

Basic Requirements for Operations Research Analyst:

Degree: Bachelor's Degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:

GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Researching and developing technology to meet requirements; 2) Meeting project objectives within constraints; 3) Preparing technical documents; and 4) Providing written and/or oral recommendations to senior leaders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Researching technology to meet requirements; 2) Initiate and/or develop effective scientific approach to problem solving; 3) Develop and/or uses mathematical models for analysis on various projects; This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). 

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or related subjects. (NOTE: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

GS-09 Specialized Experience:  One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Utilize statistical software packages to analyze quantitative data; 2) Assists in the conduct of novel operations analysis studies and 3) Applies computer technology to developing statistical inferences from data.

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or related subjects. (NOTE: you must attach a copy of your transcript.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
