Serves as a Computer Scientist in the Automotive Directorate at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC).
ATC provides test and test support services for authorized customers within and outside of DoD, including Government and non-Government organizations, domestic and foreign. Perform comprehensive test and training, both real and simulated, exploit emerging technologies, and develop leading-edge instrumentation and test methodologies.
PLACE OF WORK: This position is located within the U.S. Army Test & Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Automotive Directorate, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
PCS or Relocation is authorized.

Job Responsibilities
Serves as a computer scientist for the Automotive Directorate, applying a broad knowledge of the principles and techniques of computer science to the tech base efforts related to the development and evaluation/analysis of test data. Work requires (a) professional competence in applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations; (b) specialized knowledge of the design characteristics, limitations, and potential applications of systems having the ability to transform information, and of broad areas of applications of computing which have common structures, processes, and techniques; and (c) knowledge of relevant mathematical and statistical sciences. Work also requires knowledge of information technology and experience with the following software: Java, HTML, JavaScript, various web development technologies; experience in the development of algorithms, and experience in the development of graphical user interfaces. Experience in Microsoft A365 technologies including PowerApps, Power Automate, and Sharepoint, as well as developing applications in a Microsoft Azure Cloud environment are a plus but not necessarily required.
Responsible for applying a broad knowledge of the principles and techniques of computer science to the technical efforts related to the representation and evaluation/analysis of test data. Establishes requirements to meet new or inadequately fulfilled technical objectives. Identifies controversial elements in software design concepts and ascertains areas of research and analysis which may be required to resolve them. Coordinates the acquisition, validation, entry, and archiving of input data required by the Team's tools.
Ensures that the software tools and associated data are available as needed based on an assessment of analytical needs for the Team. Recommend new or improved software development policies, regulations, and directives. Serves as advisor and consultant to the Aberdeen Test Center government and civilian agencies on advanced technology initiatives, employing knowledge of management and information engineering concepts. Maintains liaison through the technical community to exchange technical information, provide advice on problem solutions, and coordinate work being performed elsewhere.
Job Qualification
In order to qualify, you must meet the general minimum requirements described below.
Specialized Experience
Knowledge of models of computation, performance measures, and systems architecture types and levels of representation to establish requirements for the technical objectives.
Knowledge of computer software concepts such as data representation, data structures, file systems, operating systems, computer languages, software development methodologies, and network protocols to identify controversial elements in software design concepts and ascertain areas of research and analysis.
Skill in interpreting high-speed computing systems and real-time data acquisition systems to coordinate, and validate entry and /or archiving of data input.
Ability to develop technical reports and data to present papers to various professional meetings, symposia, and conferences.

Conditions of Employment
Position is Non-Critical Sensitive requiring Secret security clearance or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
