The United States Army Test and Evaluation Command is posting this advertisement to fill a current vacancy. The chosen candidate will serve as an Engineering Technician, supporting the Systems Test Branch, Ammunition & Armaments Division within Yuma Test Center, Yuma, AZ. A selection will be made soon after the closing date. Selection of this position is permanent and will be made at the GS-11 grade level.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 
 

As an Engineering Technician, you will:

  • Support test and evaluation projects of armament equipment categories such as prototype, fielded, foreign, domestic, large caliber weapon systems, and small arms.
  • Support test and evaluation projects of Army equipment categories such as tactical and combat vehicle platforms to include their subsystems systems.
  • Participate in elements of testing focused on armament/ammunition weapon systems.
  • Operate items such as specialized tools, electronics, and equipment to accomplish test site preparation.
  • Oversee others operating a variety of items such as vehicles, weapons, tools, and equipment for testing.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and security laws, regulations, SOPs, and guidelines.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Conditions of Employment

 
  • You must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Travel away from the normal duty station is required up to 10% of the time.
  • Position requires heavy lifting of 50 pounds or more. Incumbent is required to pass a pre-employment physical and annual physical thereafter.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Signing of a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) acknowledging periodic random drug testing requirements is mandatory prior to being placed into this position.
  • The duties of this position require access to arms, ammunition, & explosives (AA&E) (The provisions of paragraph 2-11 AR 190-11 apply).
  • The incumbent must meet the requirements of the Lautenburg amendment which reads as follows: This position allows the incumbent access to firearms and ammunition. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18,U.S.C., Section 922(g)(91). Candidates who have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not qualified for this position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. False or fraudulent information provided by candidates is criminally punishable by fine or imprisonment (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 1001).
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain/maintain a government motor vehicle license.

Travel Requirements

Up to 10% Travel
