This is a developmental position and the selection of this position is permanent and will be made at the GS-7/9 grade level with full promotion potential to GS-12.

Job Responsibilities

Conducting tests and evaluations related to electromagnetic testing and/or analyzing technical data such as instrumentation readings, radio frequency measurements and calculations. 

1. Participates in and/or directs one or more phases of test, generation of electromagnetic test environment, analysis and evaluation on any of several weapon or missile/ground or materiel systems, including their components or auxiliary equipment. 

2. Determines appropriate techniques through use of electromagnetic / nuclear facility and other data, operational analysis, and mathematical and statistical methods for interpreting, analyzing, and evaluation using laboratory, simulation field, and firing tests concerning electronic, guidance, propulsion, and nuclear components, instrumentation, and missile/ground systems. 

3. Continually develops competence in job-related areas of electromagnetics, nuclear, engineering, science, and mathematics bearing on various missile/ground systems. 

4. Participates in conferences, Integrated Product Teams (IPT), Working Groups, and meetings with various management, technical, and operating elements of White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and other government installations, and with contractor officials and representatives. 

5. Participates with supervisor in planning activities, especially in defining areas in which training is needed. 

6. Prepares, and/or coordinates preparation of technical and facility plans/reports.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.

 

Specialized Experience

Radio Frequency engineering, antenna design, transmission line experience, EMC/EMI engineering. 

GS-07: One year of specialized experience, which includes 1) Performing routine scientific or engineering tasks to assist higher-level employees. 2) Knowledge of scientific or engineering principles and concepts to determine applicability to the work being performed; OR  education substitution: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. 

GS-09: One year of specialized experience, which includes 1) Applying techniques to plan, coordinate, analyze or report on completed tests and evaluation projects; and 2) Assisting with analyzing/evaluating scientific data in the solution of scientific or engineering problems; OR. Education substitution: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.

Conditions of Employment

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Direct deposit of pay is required.This position requires to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

This position requires the incumbent to obtain certification in Acquisition Career Field Test & Evaluation (Practitioner) within 60 months of appointment.

Must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement (OGE-450) upon entering the position and annually thereafter.

This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
